Hanging & Mounting
WildLenz prints are produced as finished works, designed for stability, longevity, and proper presentation. Each piece is prepared to be displayed as intended, without the need for additional internal support or framing components.
The information below outlines how mounted photographic prints are constructed, how they are hung, and how they should be handled once installed.
What Is Mounting
In Fine Art photography, mounting refers to the process of permanently bonding a photographic print to a rigid backing material. This backing may be aluminum or a comparable stable substrate, selected to support the print and preserve its structural integrity over time.
Mounting increases durability by protecting the print from bending, creasing, or environmental stress. It also ensures the artwork remains flat and visually consistent, allowing it to be displayed without warping or distortion.
During the mounting process, the photographic print is adhered to the backing material using professional archival adhesives. Care is taken to ensure an even bond, preventing air pockets or surface irregularities. Depending on the selected presentation, the mounted print may also be sealed behind acrylic glass or protected with a surface lamination.
Mounting is widely used in galleries, exhibitions, and professional print production to enhance both longevity and presentation.
Acrylic Glass Mounting
Acrylic glass prints consist of a photographic image produced on archival photographic paper and sealed behind polished acrylic glass. The print is mounted to a rigid backing, creating a unified structure that enhances depth, clarity, and perceived dimensionality.
This construction provides protection from dust, moisture, and handling while maintaining sharp detail and color fidelity. Acrylic glass mounting is designed as a frameless, gallery-ready presentation intended for long-term display.
Fine Art Paper Prints on Mounted Backing
Fine Art paper prints may also be mounted to a rigid backing material to ensure flatness and stability. This approach preserves the tactile surface quality of the paper while providing structural support, allowing the print to be framed or displayed without risk of warping over time.
Hanging Hardware & Installation
WildLenz artworks are delivered as finished pieces, prepared for secure and straightforward installation. Wall screws, nails, and anchors are not included, as wall materials and mounting conditions vary widely.
Each work is equipped with an integrated hanging system selected to support stability, alignment, and long-term display. Leaving wall hardware selection to the collector allows for a solution that is appropriate for both the artwork and the installation environment.
Aluminum Rail Hanging System
WildLenz works are presented using an aluminum rail hanging system affixed to the reverse of the artwork. This system distributes weight evenly, maintains proper spacing from the wall, and helps ensure the piece remains level once installed.
Depending on the size and format of the work, one or more aluminum rails may be used. The rails are permanently attached during production, creating a clean, gallery-ready presentation without the need for additional framing hardware.
How to Hang Your Artwork
Hanging is typically accomplished using two wall anchors with screws or hooks installed into the wall. For smaller formats, sturdy nails may be sufficient; however, the use of two attachment points is always recommended to prevent lateral movement.
The aluminum rail system allows the artwork to rest securely on the fasteners while maintaining consistent alignment. Once placed, the piece can be adjusted slightly to ensure it is level before final positioning.
WildLenz works are also compatible with professional gallery rail systems, where hooks are suspended from ceiling-mounted tracks using nylon cords or cables.
Mounting & Display Considerations
When installing your artwork, please
-Ensure wall anchors are appropriate for the wall material
-Verify that mounting points are level and evenly spaced
- Allow adequate clearance from direct heat sources or high-humidity areas
If you are uncertain about installation or wall suitability, consultation with a professional installer or framer is recommended.
